Samator Solar Energy

“Our Vision, is for Indonesia to advance in energy sector. Going forward, we will reduce a lot of fossil energy usage from year to year”

Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia

Samator Group’s Commitment to a Better Environment

In 2015, Indonesia alongside with 195 countries as member of UNFCCC signed the Paris Agreement and targets 23% of electricity to be generated from renewable energy sources by 2025. This highly ambitious target will not be achieved without participation from the private sector and companies like Samator Group.

Samator Group is at the forefront in helping carry out Indonesia to its renewable energy revolution. In 2016, Samator Group installed a 1 MegaWatt solar panel system (more than 3000 solar panels) on its gas production plant at Bambe-Driyorejo, Gresik. In the future, Samator Group will continue to add more solar power generators and expand its services to fulfil the company's commitment to the environment.

For years Samator Group has worked to improve the energy efficiency of its business processes and reduce its emission from national operations by adopting renewable energy from solar panels.

Cabang Samator Gresik, yang didirikan pada tahun 1975 sebagai cabang pertama dari Samator Group, dipilih secara simbolis sebagai cabang pertama yang meluncurkan inisiatif energi solar nasional kami.

The solar panel system at Gresik is the largest rooftop commercial installation by Indonesian private company. Gresik branch was established in 1975 as the first Industrial Gas branch of Samator Group, and now serve as a catalyst for Samator Group and other companies in Indonesia to move towards a better environment.

So far, Gresik installation has managed to reduce usage of coal-based energy equivalent to 835.90 hectares of forest conservation and 9,687.54 tonnes of trees. The total accumulated energy generated since the start of this initiative up to November 2019 has reached 3,763,578 KWh. As a comparison, the generated energy by Samator Gresik would be able to power up a television for 1,089,870 days or 28,950 computers for an entire year.
